Department of Licensing (DOL): Additional Consequences on Traffic Infractions

Posted by Joyce Heritage | Jun 06, 2024 | 0 Comments

First, remember to make sure your address is correct with DOL.  If they send you a notice, you want to make sure you get it!  You can change your address online on DOL's website.

Second, DOL has modified the procedure for license suspensions when you get too many tickets.  Currently, DOL will suspend your license for 60 days if you have three (3) traffic infractions found committed in any 12 month period or if you have four (4) traffic infractions found committed in any 24 month period of time.  So if you get a ticket in March, another in May, and another in June, then DOL will suspend your license for 60 days.

To get your license reinstated, you will be required to take an approved Driver's Safety class, pay the reinstatement fee, and provide proof of obtaining SR22 insurance and maintain that for the probationary period.

Following the license suspension, you will be on probation for 12 months.  During probation DOL will suspend you an additional 30 days for each infraction you get during those 12 months.

You can check the status of your license on the DOL website.
